ALRIGHT. ALRIGHT. WHERE DO I START. This is the fourth installment, much anticipated addition to the Takumi series. I have had this movie downloaded for quite sometime, but just have been procrastinating my time to watch it. Now, without further adieu, I present you my “review,” of sorts, on this spectacular movie.
I AM IN LOVELOVELOVE WITH THIS MOVIE. Alright, first and foremost, let me just say that I love how this series stays consistent throughout the characters. I love seeing the old faces moreso than I do the new ones, honestly, but that should go without saying, no? When I saw Akaike, I nearly spazzed myself into oblivion. If any of you remember my previous covers of this series, you will remember that I am in eternal love with Akaike. I mean.. we just.. OHMYMAKER. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH. Ahem. *fixes tie* Now that I have regained my composure, we shall continue. I really, really, and I cannot stress this enough, enjoyed this movie. It was so refreshing in so many ways that I cannot even begin to express. It was a nice change of pace, if you will, for the Takumi addition. The characters. The characters. The characters. They are just beyond amazing and well portrayed, if you ask me. Far better than any Japanese film that I have seen in the past, which has amplified with each movie this wonderful succession has bestowed upon us. I love how, despite being centered around a “new couple,” this movie was still indirectly placed much of the strain and movie progression upon Takumi and Gii. Despite my poor Akaike not receiving as much screen-time as I would have liked (but, then again, when does he ever) I still fanboy spazzed. I am not kidding, either. Nevertheless, back on topic. I much enjoyed how Gii was still the intelligible, reliable, philosophical one that everyone swooned over (what’s that I said about remaining consistent?) in this one, as well. I honestly felt like I was watching a live film adaptation of Junjou Romantica: with the amount of pairings that they introduced in this installment. However, as I said before, I liked it. Call me a masochist, but I quite liked how Misu referred to Shingyouji as his “possession” and his “property” repeatedly. Even going as far as to call him his “pet.” Maybe it’s just me, but I liked it. Even at the end, they didn’t give us fans what we were dying for throughout the entire movie — just when I thought they were going to, they snatched it away — when Misu said something along the lines of “I’m going to say this just once, so listen up..” I THOUGHT HE WAS GOING TO SAY “I LOVE YOU,” LIKE ANYONE ELSE IN THIS PREDICAMENT WOULD HAVE DONE.
Guess again.
He did not, but that’s okay, because it would have been out of character, in a sense. I know I’ve said this many times, but let me say it again, I loved the reappearance of previous faces, such as: Gii, Takumi (respectively, of course), and Akaike. Also how it provided a fore-story, or background sketch, of a more in-depth version of Misu and Shingyouji, which we were introduced to in the previous movie. Gii really played a large role in this movie, if you ask me. He was the catalyst for one, if not both, of the couples. While Takumi was his same, positive self. HOT DAMN I LOVE THESE CHARACTERS. DEAR MAKER. SHUT ME UP, BUT I CANNOT SAY IT ENOUGH. I felt horrible for Sagara at the conclusion of this movie, but I always feel bad for -someone- in every romance themed movie I watch, so that was to be expected.
Needless to say, I was spazzing uncontrollably during this ENTIRE film, and I am not even kidding. I even paused the movie countless times to glance around my room, to make sure my cousin wasn’t awake and that my mother didn’t walk in, because I was grinning like a fool at how freaking cute this was. I nearly died of the overload. As you can tell, I could ramble on about the amazingness that is this movie for hours and hours, but, if you’ll excuse me, I am going to dance around my house because I cannot contain myself any longer.
